Programs and Services
Boonslick is actively engaged in helping our members address community and economic development needs. The agency assists communities, not-for-profit corporations, and other political entities seek funding, develop strategies, and collaborate in meeting their respective challenges. Grant writing, grant administration, project development and financing, and bringing programs and agencies together are just a few of the services our community development and planning staff provide. The types of projects undertaken are unique and constantly evolving, reflective of the dynamics of the region. Projects range from affordable housing and water/sewer systems to community buildings and neighborhood revitalization.
Community & Economic Development

Solid Waste Management District
The Boonslick Regional Planning Commission services include solid waste administration and hazard mitigation planning. The Commission also monitors and and provides assistance on air quality, watershed, groundwater, and brownfield issues.
The Commission provides ongoing administration and support for the East Central Missouri Solid Waste Management District-I. The Commission has been instrumental in the delivery of key environmental preservation programs on behalf of the district including waste-tire collections, household hazardous waste collection, pesticide container collection, and the delivery of environmental education programs. Planning & Technical Assistance
GIS Mapping
The Boonslick Regional Planning Commission provides mapping and GIS data services to local communities. The staff is capable of producing a wide variety of data-based maps including land-use, transportation, infrastructure, and parcel data maps. Where available, the staff can provide topographic maps and satellite photographs to communities. Data collection services also are available.
Grant Writing
The Boonslick Regional Planning Commission staff assists member communities and not-for-profit organizations within the region with grant writing services. The Commission prepares nearly $10 million in grant and loan applications on an annual basis. Grants are submitted to Federal and State agencies, foundations, and other philanthropic organizations.
Traffic Analysis
The Boonslick Regional Planning Commission provides traffic counting and traffic analysis services to member governments. Studies that have been completed this year include traffic volume studies, traffic speed studies, traffic composition studies, and traffic pattern analysis. These services are provided to assist local units of government maintain, develop, and monitor their roadway networks.
Portable Traffic Analysis Trailer
Traffic counts and traffic analysis services are provided to Boonslick members. The Commission’s equipment provides traffic counts and speed information for all cars passing the count location. The equipment includes a programmable information display that also shows the speed of each approaching vehicle.

Data Library
In cooperation with the Missouri Census Data Center, Boonslick is a repository for U.S. Census information. The staff provides requested regional, county, and city data to members and residents within the region. In addition to providing access to Census information, the staff provides information and analysis of Census data and trends. Census data is also being incorporated into GIS applications to track trends and plot data sets visually.
Missouri Career Center
Boonslick administers the local Missouri Career Center for the Missouri Division of Workforce Development. The center provides resources for job seekers as well as businesses in need of employees.
“Great Hires,” www.greathires.org, is the official workforce resource website for the State of Missouri. The internet- based job searching program provides access to thousands of Missouri jobs, with job matches based on skills as well as job titles. Clients can search for employment openings by title, skill set, field of study, or zip code. A “personal homepage” is provided for each client to store searches, position descriptions, and communication with businesses. The program also facilitates on-line Unemployment Insurance claim reporting at Missouri Career Centers.
Career Assistance Program
Employment and training specialists work with clients in the Career Assistance Program for clients receiving temporary assistance. This program continues to expand and challenge us as we provide case management services for individuals in Lincoln, Montgomery and Warren counties. Boonslick also administers the Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) program.
Adult and Dislocated Worker Programs
Boonslick provides career consultants working with the adult and dislocated worker programs. Services include training and assistance on issues such as computer access, resumes, and interviewing skills.
